Ik weet niet meer wanneer ik de website van The Next Web voor het eerst gezien heb, dat zal flink wat jaren geleden zijn. Zoals TRES altijd organisator was van Trendship, zo heeft The Next Web jaarlijks de TNW Conference.
Ik heb geen bedrijf, ik ben geen ZZP-er, ik ben developer, dus ik ben geïnteresseerd in goede sprekers over technische onderwerpen en andere IT-gerelateerde zaken. Als je dat zo bekijkt, zijn andere evenementen waarschijnlijk iets meer op mij van toepassing. Techorama, heb ik in 2022 bezocht ben en Teqnation, ook in 2022.
In 2017 was Hardwell één van de sprekers. In 2018 onder andere een presentatie over ruimtetechnologie voor "sustainability", Bryce Bladon over blockchain, presentatie over Reddit, over hoe bij Google het personeel productief blijft. In 2019 was de headline dat er meer dan 350 sprekers zijn. In 2019 heb ik een kaartje voor 2020 gekocht, kregen we de corona-crisis, maar konden we met dat ticket in 2021 wel fysiek aanwezig zijn: en daar was ik bij.
Want ik wilde het wel eens in het echt mee maken. En zoals je kunt lezen waren er sessies die ik niet heel interessant vond. Maar ook een aantal wel, zoals de deep-fake Tom Cruise en Shopify (waar we bij TRES al geruime tijd ook gebruik van maken). En ook was er een soort "playground" met coole gadgets e.d., hier heb ik in 2021 voor het eerst een coole ID Buzz Cargo gezien en ook het 3D hokje van de ABN-AMRO, waardoor het er bijna op lijkt dat er echt een persoon in zit en niet dat het een soort projectie is, top!
Op 29 oktober 2023 een kaartje gekocht (Super Early Bird), met kortingscode, in totaal 420 euro. Als je nu, op het laatste moment, nog een kaartje wilt kopen mag je 1.050 euro neertellen. Toen ik het kaartje kocht wist ik nog niet gaan spreken. Maar als je "de gok durft te nemen", of als het je meer om het netwerken gaat, hou dan de website in de gaten en boek dan ook een vroeg kaartje. Dat scheelt je flink wat euro's en geeft de organisatie van TNW een boost: de eerste gasten staan op de lijst!
Dit jaar ben ik beide dagen aanwezig. Wat betekent dat ik donderdag 20 juni na afloop naar het Fletcher hotel in Amsterdam ga, dat scheelt weer heen-en-weer rijden.
Het programma is al een tijd bekend, welke sessies lijken me interessant en ga ik zeker bezoeken?
David Allen met "Transforming Team Productivity: Getting Things Done with Others"
Donderdag 20 juni, 16.10 tot 16.30 uur. De mensen die mij kennen weten dat ik geïnteresseerd ben in "Getting Things Done". Lijstjes maken, actiepunten afvinken. Lifehacks, zaken automatiseren. Maar goed, nog steeds "veel te doen, veel willen doen, maar er niet aan toekomen". Heb je het over "Getting Things Done", dan heb je het over David Allen, hij heeft namelijk dat boek geschreven. En nu dus ook (samen met nog iemand anders volgens mij) dit boek. Wie weet geeft het wat nieuwe inzichten om het samenwerken met mijn collega's bij TRES nog effectiever te laten verlopen.

Op donderdag 20 juni, van 16.45 tot 17.15 uur kun je het boek laten signeren door David. Dat is leuk, eerst al die presentatie door hem en ook nog het boek kunnen laten signeren. De man is inmiddels 78 jaar, dus hij zal niet snel weer naar Nederland komen (vermoed ik). En toen zag ik op zijn boek... dat hij in Amsterdam woont! Dus dat zal dan wel mee vallen ;) De eerlijkheid gebied me te zeggen dat ik beide boeken niet heb, maar via bol.com nog even snel aangeschaft, zodat ik ze kan laten signeren!

Dat is de eerste dag. Zoals je ziet overlappen sommige sessies elkaar, dus even kijken of ik bij sommige iets eerder weg ga, of iets later binnen kom bij de volgende sessie. Morgen deel ik de presentaties die op vrijdag 21 juni gegeven worden en mijn interesse hebben.

I don’t remember when I first saw The Next Web website; it must have been many years ago. Just as TRES was always the organizer of Trendship, The Next Web hosts the annual TNW Conference.
I don’t have a company, nor am I a freelancer; I am a developer, so I’m interested in good speakers on technical topics and other IT-related matters. From that perspective, other events might be more applicable to me, such as Techorama, which I attended in 2022, and Teqnation, also in 2022.
In 2017, Hardwell was one of the speakers. In 2018, there were presentations on space technology for sustainability, Bryce Bladon on blockchain, a presentation on Reddit, and one on how Google keeps its staff productive. The headline in 2019 was that there were more than 350 speakers. I bought a ticket for 2020, but then the coronavirus crisis hit. However, we could still attend in person in 2021 with that ticket, and I was there.
I wanted to experience it in person. As you can read, there were sessions I didn’t find very interesting, but there were also some that I did, such as the deep-fake Tom Cruise and Shopify (which we’ve been using at TRES for quite some time). There was also a sort of “playground” with cool gadgets, where I first saw a cool ID Buzz Cargo and the 3D booth from ABN-AMRO, which almost looks like a real person is inside rather than a projection—top-notch!
On October 29, 2023, I bought a Super Early Bird ticket with a discount code for a total of 420 euros. If you want to buy a ticket now, at the last moment, it will cost you 1,050 euros. When I bought the ticket, I didn’t know who would be speaking. But if you dare to take the gamble, or if you’re more into networking, keep an eye on the website and book an early ticket. Thursday, June 20, 16:10 to 16:30. People who know me are aware that I am interested in "Getting Things Done." Making lists, checking off action points. Lifehacks, automating things. Still, there is "much to do, much wanting to be done, but not getting to it." When you talk about "Getting Things Done," you talk about David Allen, who wrote that book. And now also (along with someone else, I believe) this book. Perhaps it will provide new insights to make collaborating with my colleagues at TRES even more effective.

Honestly, I don’t have either of his books, but I quickly bought them from bol.com so I can have them signed!
